Warning: Get ready to cry or think about Food Expo Abuja for the rest of your day if you didn’t attend.
First things first! Before we go on with this post, we need to flog all those that say Abuja isn’t fun and there’s nothing to do. Which rock are y’all hiding under? Jacorrrbbb, bring the whip.
We were at Food Expo Abuja as vendors and also partners for the event. Of course, we roll with the big guns *winks* and it was a good experience. Food Expo Abuja is an event that showcases various food vendors in Abuja while creating an environment that fosters fun, music, and interaction amongst the people of Abuja. Simply put it, Food Expo Abuja is where you go to eat a variety of foods, hang out with friends, listen to live music performances and basically just have fun. There was a lot to choose from; food, drinks, health & beauty, clothes, perfumes, shisha and loads more. At Nkataa we actually did have a good time over at Food Expo Abuja. Let’s tell you 5 things we loved.
The Food and Drinks
Of course, if we don’t love the food who will? There were a variety of food vendors. From street food to fit fam meals, local delicacies and even small chops. We served our signature Roasted Plantain, Grilled Chicken, and Sauce. Whatever your taste might be, there was a vendor for you. Permit us to say drinks Boku. Sodas, juices, spirits and even cocktails. Guess who served us Crazy People Cocktails? The one and only Joey!
The Eating Competition
We organized an eating competition that was absolutely hilarious. Watching grown men chow down hot roasted plantain like their life depended on it. The female category was just a sight. Don’t be deceived, pretty girls love food. And the kids were just so adorable. When we asked the winner what he would do with the voucher, he said he was going to gift his mum. Son goals or nah?
The Set Up
When you hear of an outdoor event, of course, you go “Oh, the sun” or “Where will I sit down?” Well, Food Expo Abuja took all these into consideration when setting up because there were vendors who set up cute little corners with mats, coloured tires, puffs and of course shaded by the short trees or tents. We found it creative and it was indeed a beautiful sight. Kudos Food Expo Abuja.
The Entertainment
Funny how it was food by day and turn up by night. Just so you know, Michael Jackson was present or rather his parody. This young chap busted some moves, wowed the crowd and got almost everyone on their feet. The major entertainment highlight was when Naeto C jumped on the stage and the crowd went wild. Just reminded us of how much we miss our OG musicians.
The People
Abuja is known to be the home of the cool kids, yes or yes? And you know, what makes an event fun is not just the activities, but the people. Everyone seemed to be cool and ready to have fun. Shout out to the lively host, she definitely kept the crowd engaged. Especially during the eating competition, our guess is she loves food too.
